Nag Tibba

The Serpent's Peak — a weekend summit above the Garhwal foothills

Duration
2 days
Max altitude
9,915 ft
Difficulty
Easy
Region
Garhwal

Overview

Nag Tibba (3,022 m) is the highest peak of the Nag Tibba range and Uttarakhand's most accessible summit trek. From Pantwari roadhead it is a single day's walk to base camp through oak forest, and a pre-dawn push on day two to a ridgetop that opens up the entire Gangotri and Bandarpoonch skyline. Because the trek starts under 8,000 ft and tops out under 10,000 ft, altitude is rarely a concern — making it the ideal first Himalayan trek or a fast weekend reset from Delhi or Dehradun.

  • Weekend-friendly 2-day itinerary from Dehradun
  • 360° summit view of Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini and Gangotri ranges
  • Camp under oak and rhododendron canopy at Nag Tibba base
  • Runs year-round including a light snow window in Jan–Feb

Day-by-day itinerary

Pre-dawn start for the 2 hr summit push. Sunrise over Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch and Kedarnath group. Descend to Pantwari and drive back to Dehradun by evening.
