Overview

Dodital is a serene forest lake believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ganesha. This five-day trek from Agoda village climbs gently through deodar and oak forest to the lake, with an optional summit to Darwa Pass for views of Bandarpoonch and the Gangotri range.

    Dehradun to Agoda village

    Drive to Agoda, the base camp village.

  2. 2

    Agoda to Manjhi via Bebra

    9 km forest trek to Manjhi village.

  3. 3

    Manjhi to Dodital

    7 km trek to the lake camp at Dodital.

  4. 4

    Dodital to Darwa Pass and back to Agoda

    Summit Darwa Pass (13,616 ft) and descend to Agoda.

    Agoda to Dehradun

    Drive back to Dehradun.

Things to carry

The honest list — 8 kg on your back is plenty for this trek. Layers still matter — nights drop below 5 °C.

  • Ankle-length waterproof trekking boots (worn in)
  • Down or synthetic jacket rated to −10 °C
  • Waterproof-breathable shell jacket
  • Two full sets of thermal base layers
  • Three pairs of merino or synthetic socks
  • Insulated + liner gloves, wool cap, sun cap
  • Category 3 UV sunglasses (Category 4 on snow above 4,000 m)
  • One-litre insulated flask + one reusable water bottle
  • Headlamp with fresh batteries
  • Personal medication + basic strip (paracetamol, ORS, band-aids)
